October 1st - 2:00 pm
Just purchased my train ticket to Luxor. It was EL165, $30 US.
4:00pm
My train leaves at 10:15 so I decided to get back on the subway and come back down to Sadat square. I've been walking around now for an hour and wanted to take a break before heading off for food. I'm sitting in Sadat square relaxing in the shade and watching rush hour traffic. Taking the subway to Mubarak square (the stop for the train station) wasn't as bad as I thought it might be. The person at the tickit window spoke English and it was easy to get directions. I got on the platform and confirmed I was in the right place with an English couple. The train came and I jumpped on. Not even ten minutes and I was at Mubarak. The subway is quick, and cheap. I paid El1 which is about $0.18 US. It's so quick and clean and except for catching at the lunch rush it was good, a little tight but man the subway rocks. When I got to the train station it was easy enough to find the tourist information office but it took a little time to find platfomr 11. I got lost... went right instead of left. I wanted to get a sleeper but all were taken so I had to take a seat. I'll be sleeping upright tonight.
